Biography

There are times when the ‘strategy of need’ is ever present in my work, which allows me to adapt, as a doer, to whichever the circumstances, subject-matter and materials, achieving then an essential precondition for the creation of a work of art, which is the possibility of an environment of freedom.
My process, more often than not, starts with a ‘found’ image, usually from the press. Then, the buried significance, and possible emotional attachment, in this given image or images kick start a series or several at once, that might go on for years and end up interconnected. The only explanation I feel I can give about my work methodology is that by deconstructing ‘found’ images, and dissecting their elements (and usually obsessing about a few), I seem to strive to uncover exactly what first caught my initial attention, and why, as if I were on a mission to find out the underlying collective subconscious that makes us respond to such visual stimuli. The continuous repetition of dissected elements leads to intertwined disparate elements (images). Materials and techniques are also intricate part of this process, hence the mixing of disparate materials and techniques in my work.
