"Irene Petrafesa´s painting is founded on two opposing and contiguous levels:
emotion and contingency.
Her painting is a concise translation of the exact moment of accidental identification with everything she comes across in her life.
Her work becomes an exquisite engineering product,
born from the evocation of images caught by and kept in her memory, showing a perfect balance between matter, space, memory and instinct; it is a work reduced to essential traces, made of violent and rapid lines, sketched in shorthand by the brush handle, when the impasto is oily and slightly rippled; they are sharp and clean signs, impressed on a flaked paint, which, untiringly spread by infinite brush strokes, shows a
misleading inclination towards an abstract code."
