Biography

Maria Gambacorta was born in Giffone (RC) Italy , on December 6, 1941. She graduated in Italian Language and Literature at the University of Florence. She taught in the Secondary school. She started her carreer as a self-teaching painter.
Since 2008 she has been entering lots of competitions, exhibiting her paintings in art galleries in Tuscany and other parts of Italy, winning prizes and having appreciations that have enriched her curriculum in a short time.
Her style, informal and abstract, was inspired by the paintings exhibited at the Biennale of Venice in the 70s and 80s and at the Guggenheim Museum in Venice.
Her favourite painters are: Pollock, Kandiskij, Schiele Klimt, Emilio Vedova, Zoran Music, Alberto Burri, Lucio Fontana.
