Biography
Born in London, 1986, Jamie spent most of his youth moving around the South of the UK, living mostly in Norwich, Cardiff, and Bristol before moving to Brighton in 2005. Since then he has continued to move around periodically, choosing travelling over relocating. This nomadic tendency has led him to seek out similarities in human behaviour, things that connect us globally.
"Central to my work is a need to further my understanding of what makes us human, and I have been doing this by exploring our similarities across the world, from linguistics and psychology to mythology and religion. By looking at human nature and the psyche, and by attempting to communicate beneath the surface levels of language in my paintings, I have begun to create a sense of place and belonging that supersedes my immediate surroundings."
