Biography
I was born just outside London in a small Village call Burnham in 1963.I studied for a Degree in Fine Art at Canterbury College of Art and Design, where I Graduated in 92.
I have spent most of his life living and working as an Artist in the East End of London, where I have a studio.
My experience of living in London over many years has been a major influence on the subject matter and feeling of my paintings as well as my childhood memories and experiences outside London. The pictures evoke a dreamlike feeling and a quality of intimacy within a domesticated space, suggesting the anonymity of the urban experience; an experience that many people living in a big city have.
In essence these images suggest the idea of lost memories and the effect of decay through neglect and time. The rooms in these pictures are haunted by the context of the objects within these spaces, the elements of decay within these rooms and the allusion of being frozen in a moment of time. This quality I hope to enhance through the use of objects that evoke the past, and the dreamlike quality of the figures that remain silent and caught in a moment of contemplation or anticipation forever. Throughout these pictures there is also a feeling of melodrama suggesting a range of possible narratives, non sequential but creating the effect of layers, that echo in the viewerR17;s imagination.
