Biography

This recent work presents some kind of an amalgamation between my interests in the painting process and my personal response to the urban landscape. I find the bland every day familiar places we inhabit exciting on many levels. Firstly the places I make reference to have become a well established part of my personal geography and history. I have a long held interest and curiosity about the mundane functional environments of our every day lives. I am intrigued by the way these spaces represent many aspects of our human condition and in a sometimes uncomfortable way mirror who we are and what we want from our lives. The work attempts to explore some of the more unsettling aspects of the urban landscape space where things can be uncertain and unpredictable where at any moment our pleasant lives may be disrupted and changed. The paintings attempt to identify and reveal something essentially exciting and beautiful about these vague transitional moments.
