Biography
Winner of a Special Prize from the 3rd Annual International Art Prize Arte Laguna, Treviso, Italy and stay-at-home Dad, I grew up on the coast always on or near the marsh at the water's edge. I was always dreaming of what was hiding within the cord-grass or what swam beneath the gray-green water. This experience matured into scientific romanticism -- a kind of childhood fantasy -- that remains the driving force of my work. When I am not caught up in dreaming on the canvas about childhood, I often catch myself with a different, more practical mind, thinking about the absurdity of such thoughts.
Either these childhood dreams have grown to obscure my daily life or much of my own experience has been the stuff of dreams and fascination. I really do not care which is which anymore. But I now realize that profound seriousness and absurdity can exist at the same time both in a work and in real life. At least my cat says so.
