Biography
Painting is like alchemy, bridging the conceptual with the corporal. My latest works express my love of paint, of history and of process, playfully blending imagery, and building a dialogue between the individual stripes. Found images, clip art and text are as significant as color, space and composition. The meanings are intentionally ambiguous, using the stripe to both ground the composition and enhance the instability of the narrative. In this way, the narrative is reborn with each viewing as the juxtaposition of seemingly unrelated forms offers countless reinterpretations. This spontaneity of design forms a vocabulary that mirrors the minds self-organizing tendencies and allows the viewer to experience their own free associations within the work, a kind of experience that brings the viewer into the unfolding of the alchemical process.
