Biography

Born Kyoko Nishikawa in Hakodate Japan in 1978. Kyoko first learned to develop her own film in the darkroom after school. She continued to work on her own utilizing the dark room first at her high school in Hakodate and later at her college in Tokyo. She learned by doing, and by seeing. She drew a lot from the photos in her skateboard magazines and often frequented the galleries and small niche theaters of Tokyo. She now lives in the united states but plans to return to her home town of Hakodate someday. Her strongest influences are Wolfgang Tillmans, and Daido Moriyama. she now works in both film and digital.
