Biography
Dario Arcidiacono born in Catania in 1967, makes his art debut in 1995 founding the Ultrapop group, and works with it till april 2003. In the '90s, when the Italian cultural environment
is crossed by the American gust of pulp, also Ultrapop leaves
the sign, becoming recognizable on the Italian artistic scene, with a style and a search played in the radius of the youth subculture. Arcidiacono explores the fantastic horror iconography of the ‘70s-’80s years (zombies, mutant, post-atomic disasters, and escapes from New York) and integrates it with the most recent enviromental, conspiracy and world wide aspirations. The homages to the fanta-horror and thesplatter,
gradually leaves space to precise denunciations of the
reality-horror of a more and more alarming report. Attracted from the aspects most bizzarre of the truth, Arcidiacono reveals itself like a skillful “paint reporter” who disassembles and reassembles the events of the world-wide report, present them again in a new dimension indeed more functional to his idea of visual show.
