Biography
Shintaro Ohata is an artist with a unique touch who captures all sorts of light in his work: light at dawn, light at dusk, city lights by night. A certain wistfulness and longing for somewhere permeates Ohata's painting, inexplicably attracting all sorts of viewers to the scenes and objects depicted in his world, regardless of nationality or gender, appealing to audiences with a wide range of ages.He also attracts viewers by his unique technique, that the characters which often appear on his paintings such as sheep and girls also come out from the painting as sculptures. Audiences can enjoy his world as a combination of two- and three-dimensional art work.
Ohata was voted most popular artist at the international 101 Tokyo Art Fair in 2008.
