Biography
"Observing the works of Vincenzo Todaro it is had the impression of being catapulted into landscapes that are both mental and physical places, sites and no-sites (almost reminiscent of the poetry of Robert Smithson, renowned land artist). In the "visions" of interiors and exteriors proposals by the artist (stronger than a solid graphic and engraving basis) it seems that the time is crystallized in one moment of suspense, in which the human presence is only an adjunct of the spirit of place represented, according to a “poetics of absence”, citing the words of the artist.
In the works of Vincenzo in fact, this absence is often the true subject of the work, because, paradoxically, induces the viewer to interrogate itself about the identity of those who inhabit the represented places, often urban spaces such as subways and airports, real fittings of human flows, but where people cross only in haste and coolly, without ever truly meet. The perception of the viewer is then stimulated intimate by the works of Vincenzo, evoking a feeling of suspense mixed with an inner tension but also with a slight sense of hope."
