Biography

In Marina Iorio we found a rare moment for modern times in which the artistic and scientific expressions come together in the same person. She has transformed the “Multibeam technology” (beams of acoustic waves which infer the depth of the ocean floors and “draw” its morphology) into a new form of artistic communication. As the curator Marcello Viva, explained in Sienza come arte (Silvana editoriale)“ the aestheticization of technology reaches a turning point, and if it is true, that art is a matter of aesthetics, and therefore sensoriality, then the artist is the antenna that picks up the alterations that a new medium provokes in mankind and leads the way to a new sensorial interpretation…. Modern science satisfies the need to create visual images of things that are normally concealed. And today, our acquired knowledge has brought about a faded reality where an avalanche of simulations are available: images and forms no longer exist if not within energy flows and in an ever changing dance of deformation and transformation….The technique applied in her works becomes Poiesis: it creates radically new worlds extending our visual potential to explore the traces of origin of life"
