Biography
Gabriele Di Mascolois born in Italy in 1977. He graduates in Economy at the University“La Sapieza”
in Rome, and studies photography in ISF-CI (Istituto Superiore di Fotografia e Comunicazione
Integrata) from 2005 to 2007.
In 2007 he starts working on independent documentary projects and develops his interest for
social photography.
In 2007 he moves to Guatemala and does his first report about the civil war and the genocide of
the Maya people entitled “De las tinieblas hacia la luz”.
During 2009 he finalizes the project “Sin fronteras”, which documents the migrants travelling
around Guatemala and Mexico to get the United States.
With this project he wins the “Coca-cola HBC reportage Atri festival 2010”.
Also in 2009, Di Mascolo participates in the “Senigallia workshop” with Nino Migliori and experiments
with the the Pola-pressure, a Polaroid manipulation technic.
At the moment he is working on a project about “The troubles” in Northern Ireland between
Belfast and Derry, with a special focus on the catholic areas Falls road and Bogside.
