Biography
Monica Cogotzi was born in Nürtingen, a town of about 40,000 inhabitants located on the south-eastern side of Germany, to Italian parents. A few months after birth, the entire family moved to Italy, to Nocera Inferiore (Sa), where Monica, following a regular course of study, obtained an accountant's diploma. A lover of drawing and painting, she followed painting courses at the Studioarte of Maestro Luigi Lombardo for several years with diligence and dedication. For some time he has preferred oil painting, showing great interest in portraiture. The images reach the heart, through the penetrating glances of the depicted characters. He has exhibited in different cities, taking part in collective exhibitions and in national painting competitions with decidedly appreciable results.
Monica's painting can find its rightful place in the figurative tradition. His works highlight an intense drama, attributable to the actions of the man of today who, unknowingly, lives his own, distressing, existence in the shadow of worrying, newspapers, events.
