Biography
My mother's parents, Russian emigres fleeing revolution and war, landed in New York along with millions of other refugees. There she attended art school and passed along to me a passion for art and life.
Painting, it seems to me, is the physical expression of a universe of ideas, dreams, insights, and fantasies. Out of virtually nothing comes images and ideas made physical. Real for all to see. A small piece of the mind turned inside out. Vulnerable and exposed to the elements for the good or the bad.
I have slowly come to the realization that I am looking into secret lives. Unknown worlds. A personal place that contains the ironic and the beautiful and the sarcastic and the meaningful.
I believe we may all carry unknown worlds within each of us. Some of us, we artists, make images to reflect our perceptions of that place.
We try to show a new reality from a new point of view.
