Biography

Pina Geria was born in Reggio Calabria in 1954. She got her “Laurea” degree in Pedagogy in 1980, then she studied Paintings and Graphics as an autodidact. She attended the “Free School of Nude” (“Scuola libera del nudo”) at the “Accademy of Fine Arts” (“Accademia delle belle arti”) in Reggio Calabria for four years, obtaining the related Diploma. She attended the courses teached by Prof. Paolo Raffa at the “Free Accademy” (“Libera Accademia”) in Reggio Calabria. She refined her skills in experimental graphics by attending the courses teached by Maestro Giuseppe Sciacca.
Pina Geria's works express an interior world rich of thinkings and emotions, closed in symbols she exploit. Maternity, rebellion to schemes and conventions, search of peace and desire of flying are only some of the main themes she deals with.
She attended several collective and personal expositions and she received several National prizes.
