Belo
The Artistic Process

The originality of Belo's process resides in his authentic and complex technique, which gives his works a tridimensional and textured appearance inviting the onlooker to touch its surfaces. His creations evolve changing in perspective; as we approach them, the frame seems to disappear letting the spectator in.

He manipulates the art of " Fractionalism " dividing his work into many parts. " The whole is greater than the sum of its parts " takes on a new meaning when we are in front of a Belo painting. This process of fragmenting the image takes on a new life on canvas or filament, and carries on into a medium that is dear to him: acrylic paint.

Evoking the web that his painting spins, he enhances his canvas with interlaced layers of nylon filaments. Then he composes the image by joining, on each layer, thousands of miniature pieces of acrylic paint created according to his artisanal rituel. Once they are joined these pieces reveal the main theme of the work in a fascinating tridimensional universe. His series of works are composed of kilometres of filament and tens of thousands of pieces of miniature acrylic paint.

His main inspirations come from nature, human and earthly; and from his life experiences, that he channels in an intuitive way. His art is pure, feeding itself exclusively of basic materials such as acrylic paint, cotton canvas and nylon filament.

With Belo warm and amber colors contrast with obscurity...like a glimmer in the eyes of performing artists waiting to enter center stage, influenced by his many years in the realm of the entertainment industry.
