Biography

I am interested in the way spaces and people interact. I am very curious about location and dislocation, the qualities of homesickness, how we understand our bodies in space, and the way we perceive distance. This curiosity is directed and fed by my experience of travel and temporary residence, as someone who spends most of her time away from the place that I truly call home.

On a photographic level, this leads me to investigate how a place can manifest, be represented and shared, in a two-dimensional medium and how to create a sense of place within that. I am also intrigued by the possibility for exaggeration and illusion with the form of a diptych, and what potential that may have for an enhanced articulation of a particular sense of space. Photographs are one way to preserve and recall a place, but they can also serve to create a place that never existed.
