Biography

I worked as an architect and art teacher. I have degrees in architecture, international education, painting and printing. I formed an art group in Portugal and exhibit regularly in private and collective shows. I run printing and drawing/painting workshops in my studio. My approach has various threads. I am fixated on the theme of the Iberian wolf and all wolves really as I see them as victims of man's ignorance and fear. I love working between the media of loose watercolour and acrylic vs. the studied nature of etching. I equally love to use oil in monoprinting which seems to produce luscious and surprising results. I am a representational painter with tendencies toward the abstract. I think there is an elastic tie between these two which never quite snaps. A relatively new development in my work is the use of collage and photo transfer to suggest a place or memory of a place and to stimulate curiousity and layers of time.
