Biography

Compagnia d`0;Arte Drummatica was born in 1994 from a project of Mario Martignoni that matured through the experimentation of percussion in various different bands.
In 1996 the first CD COPYONE. The interest in particular forms of expression was channelled over time in the studio: the rediscovery of the primitive sounds, of ethnic cultures that are always rich in tradition and have fascinating instruments; and the experimentation of particular effects and sounds without the use of electronic equipment. An other characteristic of this research is improvisation, which is the guiding force behind all composition, even though some part of it appear more structured. Starting with a general theme, the player may have a large scope for free interpretation and in this way become co-author of the piece. At present, the project improved owing to the joint work of the five musicians who compose the living formation. In the end of 2000 they produced the second CD: CARBoncopy. It comes from the relation with the X05;otherX04;, compositions and improvisations here presented deal with X05;incidental musicX04;: for instance music for theatre, interaction with text, or with art exhibitions, music for screen, or the show TRANSE, played in the dark while the movies run on the screen, related to trance films about Balinese ritual dances, Haitian voodoo and Italian tarantismo. In 2003, Compagnia recorded the third CD OUFTI, with the tracks composed from 2001, inspired by live performances on the road and by the people meet in the european and italian live tours. In 2007 Compagnia produced the fourth CD: DODICI.
