Biography
My name is Yuri Ohara. I came to New York 2 years ago from Japan to try and succeed in my artistic feelings and sense.
I have been painting and drawing for over 10 years in Japan and now in New York. I have been attending classes at parsons and the student art league.
My passion for art is like volcano inside a mountain. I have very sensitive reactions towards many things about life, human loneliness and the difference between cultures.I like to express original features in each work.
Through my work I am in constant search for the meaning of life, human Karma, Burdens as well as love and strength.
My goal is to put all the core meaning of existence into my paintings, so the people who view it may be led into a different understanding and perhaps more tolerance.
I love color. While painting in Japan my work was monotone. My current work is full of vibrant color with which I have discovered a new freedom. New York has been the place that I feel I am best able to improve my self and my work. Here I am not limited by society or common sense. I am alive in this city and I hope it translates in my current paintings.
