Biography

Carolina Lio is a 30 years old London based art curator, writer and researcher. She has a background in semiotics and earned an MA in Curating Contemporary Art at the Royal College of Art (2017). She was selected in 2017 for the Neon Curatorial Exchange by NEON Organisation, Athens, and Whitechapel Gallery, London. In 2015, she was awarded a research fellowship at MACBA Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona.

Since 2010 she has curated exhibitions internationally, including: Suspense, Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa, Venice (2010); Italian Container, ACCEA Armenian Center for Contemporary Experimental Art, Yerevan (2010); Vulpes Pilum Mutare, Musei Civici, Bassano del Grappa (2011); State of Matter, Hong Kong Arts Centre, Hong Kong (2013); Her/Story: Women Behind The Camera, Oslo Fotokunstskole, Oslo (2014); POST . COM, Espacio de Arte Contemporaneo, Montevideo (2016); Doing It In Public, Beaconsfield Gallery, London (2017). She has worked with galleries and organisations as Arcade, London; Open Space Istanbul; Red Elation Gallery, Hong Kong; among others.

Before settling in London she lived in Venice, Milan, Berlin, Hong Kong and Barcelona. With many projects realised worldwide from Oslo to Montevideo, she likes to think of herself as a well-travelled and multi-languages cosmopolitan.
