Biography

A Korean female sound artist Irene Eunyoung Lee’s self-defined word, "aRing" has dual meanings. Firstly as a noun form, it represents the artist’s pen name, and secondly as a verb, it means “to make realization of artful minds into organized sound (or music) activities in the circle of everyday life.” Initiated from one-person sound realization album release in Korea in 2004, the Sound Diary Project has been evolved into an open-environment, media art project. The artist’s expressive areas are being expanded by intricately adapting various formats of on/off line media, texts, sounds, visual images, installation and performances into the project. The work aRing intends to create is a convergence art (or integrated art) world that would enhance narratives in her organized sound (a.k.a. music).
