Biography
born in Romagna on 6 January 1951, gained a diploma from the Istituto d'Arte per il Mosaico in Ravenna, subsequently graduating (painting course) from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna. He made his debut in 1971 at the "Rassegna della Giovane Pittura Romagnola" in Faenza (RA). He devoted his efforts to theatrical sets and performances. He enjoyed a variety of experiences in the fields of photography, painting and mosaic.
Teacher at the Istituto d'Arte and Accademia di Belle Arti of Ravenna from 1980 to 1990.
Artistic Director of "Galleria Rasponi Arte Contemporanea" from 1991 to 1996 (despite starting from an interest in the young artists of the area, he dedicated particular attention [often cooperating with the Cannaviello Gallery in Milan] to the European painting.
He was simultaneously engaged as artistic director of "Akomena Spazio Mosaico" from 1988 to 2003 (working with authors such as: R. Arad, M. Bonetti, U. La Pietra, G. Pesce, E. Sottsass, etc.).
Artistic director, in 1996, for the creation of the mosaic for the tomb of Rudolf Nureyev (at the Russian orthodox cemetery in Sainte Geneviève des Bois, Paris) – designed by Ezio Frigerio and commissioned by the Rudolf Nureyev Foundation, with Stefano Pace as technical director, tomb structure by Atelier de Décors de l'Opera Paris-Bastille and mosaic creation by Studio Akomena.
Towards 2000, he joined forces with Francesca Fabbri and they pooled their design talents into creations presented under the name of “Akomena Progetti”.
“Animal skin”, “Sassoft” 2001, presented at several prestigious international events such as: “Sassoft” 01 (by S. Riva – L. Valtorta), Dilmos – Milan, “Easy-Living in open space” 02 (by P. Pinto – B. Modenese) Abitare il Tempo – Verona, “Carrefour de la création” 01 (by G. Simon) Centre G. Pompidou - Paris, "Fertile garden design al fresco" 05 (by M. Moss) Moss Gallery – New York. He currently teaches, provides artistic consulting services for art galleries and creates sculptures/mosaic.
