Biography
Culture and its people behind it was always an amazing subject for my works, whether it is the philosophy behind it, technique to produce it, material they use it until the history process of that culture it self.
In my early works I started to explore the prehistoric religion/beliefs philosophy, Mother Nature/ ancestor spirit beliefs, Goddess of fertility is one form of admiration. Trees in my views have similarity like human, it can cry, it can be angry, it can be funny and it can be sexy too; whereas many people nowadays look trees as a passive object like a standing lantern pool.
Then further I explored the idea of a concept of human protection to weather and to unpredicted changing of nature such as buildings, ruins, ceilings and windows; all are actually developed since the prehistoric period.
The next is exploration of the dynamic of a culture. Asmat (Papua tribe) war shield was captured in my works in different manifestation.
Last year my last exhibition, due the price rice crisis, was an art photography project of the work pattern of rice farmers, from empty cracking soil until harvest.
My last exhibition was an comparative exploration together with Philippines artist (Don M. Salubayba) of Man with Wings myth in Indonesia and The Philippines.
My works I believe still evolves and still has a lot of possibilities for further depth exploration by understanding different culture and beliefs and interaction with community. And, I strongly believe that this opportunity will allow me to make this horizon widening and deepening a reality.
