Biography
Tan Chee Hon was an artist who favor in the medium of photography and painting. Currently as art teacher for part time job, during free time doing painting and taken photography. Now based in Kuala Lumpur. He graduated with Diploma in Fine Art and majoring in painting from KLCA [ Kuala Lumpur College of Art ] in 1997.He has worked in color and b&w film for almost 15 years. Mostly his subject are street documentary, urban environment and still life.He was inspired by Henri Cartier-Bersson by his "Decisive Moment", which photography can be used to freeze and record an instance of time & space. Also his like the word said by Andre Kertesz, " I never had to go very far for subjects. They were always on my doorstep." He has two solo shows and numerous group exhibition since 1996. Including ;“Photography as Art Exhibition”, National Art Gallery, KL in 1996. “Malaysia Photography –History and Beyond” Exhibition, National Art Gallery, 2004. “Resistance” Chobi Mela III (Festival of Photography) Exhibition,Dhaka Bangladesh in 2004."
