Biography
Starting from the use of traditional engraving techniques, I have later developed (approached) new working solutions, with the tar paper representing the natural evolution of my artistic path. Enclosing resemblances between monontype and bituminous sheath’ textures, I intervened directly on the material, experimenting and enriching my work through the performance of pictorial interventions which taped analogous chalcographic inks.
It comes natural the referente to Arte Povera, with the work of Burri and Clavè, together with the Art Brut of Dubuffet and Fautrier. While I do not aim at aesthetic complacency, I rather prioritise the substance of my thoughts and the message carried by them.
Despite the communicative role played by the material support, in my work, it is the symbolic component to finally prevail., Whereas the artificial device is embodied in the tar paper, the natural element (often adsuming the archetypal shape of a seed, egg, stone, human head) is represented by the absence of material and constrained by the contemporary human intervention.
