Biography
Born in Rome, Patrick Alo' discovered his love of sculpting during the punk period of his life. Interestingly, the Italian punk scene was characterized by a phenomenon where young people brought life back to abandoned factories and old sheds.
Alo' found that all the metal junk in these places were perfect material to express his strong and imaginative poetry. He learned how to weld and eventually moved away from the MWC cyberpunk group to devote his energy to his own expressions.
Anyone who has traveled to Rome recently and frequented the untidy suburbs that surround the antique roman walls and ruins can understand the synthesis between two adjacent dimensions and understand the symbolism in Alo's sculptures.. From these images springs a spark that brings the old and new together.
A bolt and spring become eyes, blade becomes the back of a satyr or the weapon of a god. A metallic grasshopper revives the poetry of "Pasolini". It is a world that is "reborn" from its own ruins, it is the waste, or even better, the "redemption" of materials of a mechanical society.
Alo's work manifests the strength that Bull Head did for Picasso along with the fantasy of "Ettore Colla". We surpass the invectives of the "avant-guard", we wander in a desert of rubbles but is time to reconstruct, rebuild a world not only unheard of and very possible, but even necessary. There is nothing else for this sunrise but a wreck on a beach. We left after us the wreckage of ideologies, and somewhere far away, the horizon of the academic convention.
Alo' in the meanwhile goes on collecting what is discarded and removed, he sinks his hands into the entrails of abandoned and wrecked cars and puts turns the salvage into an image of humanity.
