Biography
Bruto Pomodoro was born in Milan (Italy) in 1961.
Graduated in Biology, he soon gave up the scientific project in order to dedicate himself completely to the painting arts. His artistic research, strictly abstract, approaches the most hidden aspects of alive world – from genetics to embryology, from evolution to the physical relation of universal laws – through an individual “symbolic-narrative” language, based on a careful study of the chromatic and composing relations.
Among his pictorial cycles – in chronological order – we remind the following works: the Contemplations, the Square’s Praises, the Algenic Codes and the Separates. These last paintings are directed to interpret the breaking down of the form of archetype figure (multiform modules that represent the hinge logo of his work ) according to the law of thermodynamics.
From 2006 Pomodoro develops his distinctive Archetypes in three-dimensional key, coming through the use of collages and resins, to the traditional free-standing sculpture, either in stone or bronze, following a path coherent to his rich pictorial production, in a well-balance relation between classicism and modernity.
The artist lives and works in Pietrasanta, Tuscany. From 1994 he has been exposing his works in numerous solo - public and private - exhibitions in Italy and abroad.
