Biography
Doreen Wittenbols is a Dutch-Canadian visual artist currently working in Amsterdam. She was born in the Netherlands [1974] and immigrated to Canada during her childhood. Upon graduating from the Ontario College of Art & Design, she was the recipient of the prestigious Governor-General's award. Thereafter, Wittenbols completed her MFA from Concordia University. She has received funding from the Canada Council for the Arts and Les Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Quebec. She participated in two Dutch artist residencies and has exhibited work in Canada, the UK and the Netherlands. Her paintings can be found in private and corporate collections including the Colart Collection in Montreal. Her work was featured in Carte Blanche V2: Painting, a resource book of contemporary Canadian painters. She is presently working on an ongoing, ever expanding drawing & painting project – a study in portraiture with two models culminating into two distinct archives.
