Biography
Natacha Arena is a painter working in the language of abstraction with an interest to suggest figurative forms in her compositions. This particular interpretation on the form and the space on the canvas bring interrogation to the notion of form/image in a pictorial proposal as incomplete identifiable entities. Consequently, the proposition articulates the eye/lens of the spectator pushing him to recompose the surface presented according his own marks and point of references, the composition thus creating ambiguity and different angles of perception.
Arena’s work process begins with a collection of image extracts. Her work creates a visual language using repetitive brushstrokes, strong colors thus altering the implication of the image.
Intuition, improvisation and accident are allowed along the way and are important components in her creative process.
