Biography
Years ago I started using paper empties as a support where to paint my world:at first they were takeaway pizza cartons, as they reminded me of handmade paper and then, cartons for food, as an answer to the violence of advertising ,which comes into our houses with food products. To me everything becomes useful if it is useless, to throw away. It is a kind of mania which leads me to look for holders particular for shape, size or thickness. I try to understand if there is a feeling between me and the box of toothpaste or that of frosted peas or fish, pasta or drug or between me and the little round top of industrial ice-cream cones. Lately I am very interested in shoe boxes, which I usually paint black as the “black boxes” of the aeroplanes, which we go in search of after a tragic event, because they register and preserve the events. I like to fill them with smaller boxes, that I paint, and “objects retrouvés”. Also a simple box , exactly as a black box, can keep secret events! It can become a gatherer of memories, emotions, thoughts, objects of the past and, effectively, in every house, parhaps in a locked drawer, everyone
keeps almost a box of memories! I also have another passion: to represent women, their faces and emotions, on big canvases, because I want to remind their essential role in society and private life. Till not long ago I painted their sadness, sufference, anger. Now I depict them calm and mild, as they have become the expression of my hope of seeing them so, of my wish we all can soon reach the respect, consideration and esteem we deserve.
