Biography
My paintings for many years have suggested a sense of energy and movement through abstractions. They refer to the natural world, from underwater to the cosmic, with images that can often having multiple readings. They allude to the beauty and complexity of our world. They also suggest the passage of time, where matter and energy are in a state of constant flux, moving from one state to another. They have a kinetic sense of moving across the canvas, as if a moment in time is captured. I employ the immediacy of gestural brushwork and marks, the fluidity of paint mediums and the building up of numerous layers, creating imagery with references to both internal and external landscapes.
