Biography
The artworks of Ignazio Mortellaro developed from the study on the orography of territories. His graphic works are based on the construction of images next to a bestiary, through the rescue of signs and the rarefaction of geographical curves on maps.
In 2008 he founded the collective Oblivious Artefacts, a visual experiment that involves artists, photographers and sound designers working in Berlin, Rome and Palermo. Since 2009 he is the art director of Stroboscopic Artefacts, a Berlin based techno label.
Video-sound installations as Le Ore, and the series Landscapes, as others results of the collaboration between Mortellaro and the artist Marco Morici, were showed in the exhibition L'arte dei Giardini. Il Lusso Essenziale, Thermae of Diocleziano, Rome, in 2010, and for the event Frame.by.Frame, Museum of Contemporary Art Riso, Palermo, in 2011.
Ignazio Mortellaro was born in 1978 in Palermo. Architect, he lives and works between Roma and Palermo.
