Biography

GIAMPAOLO TROTTA, Architect, Art Historian and Critic of Modern and Contemporary Art, was born in Florence in 1956. As a collaborator of the magazine “Eco d’Arte Moderna” and of the television program “Incontro con l’Arte” (Toscana Tv), as artistic manager of the National Biennial Festival of Sacred Art in Pistoia in 2006 and of “Spazio-incontri di Arte Contemporanea” to the Diocesan Museum of Sacred in Santo Stefano al Ponte, Florence, he arranged several exhibitions in Italy and in Romania and prestigious catalogs of art. He was the artistic manager of “Spazioeventi Orler", Marcon (Venice), and adviser for the Modern Art Gallery "Modenarte" in Modena. He dealt and still deals with several contemporary Italian and also foreigners painters, sculptors and photographers, but also with disappeared artists of the twentieth century, as Pietro Annigoni, Giorgio Celiberti, Steve McCurry and Dino Migliorini. It’s under his aegis that the group NE5 of Neo-existentialist Painters has grown. He is also a historian of architecture, of the city and territory, as he published lots of scientific contributions and taught in the Specializing School of Art History in the Faculty of Humanities and Philosophy of the University of Florence. Besides, he was for several times a collaborator and adviser to the Sopraintendenze of Florence, Pisa and Arezzo, and he is member of the Italian department of the International Council on Monuments and Sites with its center in Paris, founder partner of ICOMOS Scientific Committee for the Conservation of Timber Structures – IT/ IWC.
