Biography

I´m Daria Sirtori. I was born in Milan, Italy.

I’ve developed, during my lifetime, a strong interest in sports, arts and cinematographic industries. I design interactive installations, artistic videos, and graphic works.

I have completed my studies at the Fine Arts Academy of Brera; I earned a BA with honours, discussing a thesis concerning the principal aspects that influenced Eric Rohmer’s cinema, namely literature, philosophy, nature and the city. During my university studies, I have acquired some experience as filmmaker that, together with my great passion for cinema, gave me a solid formation in the aforementioned field. Throughout these years I did both filming and editing, I attended cinematographic sets, in which were filmed shorts, at which realization I have actively cooperated.

STATEMENT

My artistic research is based on the surrounding society, on the liaison that I have with it, and on the obligations that it often imposes. In my works it is possible to see the protagonists' crises with the society, they try to fight it because they feel threatened and imprisoned within the bounds the society sets up. In the end, there's always a reaction, to which it will be up to the viewer to give meaning. My works are aimed at bringing people beyond the so-called "passivity", imposed by cinema, requiring both an active concentration and reflection. The choice of operating by using fading technique has been taken because I had the need of going beyond the limits of the screen, given that I felt imprisoned by a means that represented the pillar of my art representation.
