Biography
Luisa Fontana was born in Zurich (Switzerland). After attaining a high school diploma in the arts and sciences, she studied architecture at the IUAV University of Venice (Italy) graduating with a first-class honours degree. In the nineties she set up her own practice in Schio (VI), Italy. She has worked as an assistant and visiting professor at: I.U.A.V. University of Venice (Italy), the Faculty of Architecture - University of Manitoba (Canada) and the École d'Architecture de Paysage - Université de Montréal (Canada). Her work has featured in several exhibitions including the 3rd Biennal Europea de Paisatge in Barcelona, Spain (2003); "Tradizione e Modernità. L'esperienza italiana nella riqualificazione architettonica e urbana” at the Museum of Nanjing, China, (2006); “Ecologie Contemporanee” in the Italian Pavillion of the 5th Biennial Exhibition of Architecture” in Brasilia, Brazil (2006); and at the Sendai Mediatheque and Acros Fukuoka centres as part of “High Touch – Design Italiano per tutti” (2007) exhibition in Japan. In Italy she has held her own personal exhibition “LuisaFONTANAtelier. Global Architecture” at the Acquario Romano in Rome (2010) and “Il cantiere della sostenibilità” staged by LuisaFONTANAtelier” at the Lanificio Conte in Schio (VI) (2011). She has received numerous prizes and acknowledgements. Her work has featured in prestigious national and international magazines and publications.
