Biography
Schejla Massellucci is an italian artist, born in Florence in 1973 and graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. Her work begins with the paint then as a natural consequence, becoming video art and performance. Massellucci plays with religion, with the monumentality, with deeply Italian icons using the immediacy of Pop and the irony of the first Dadaism. Her paintings are characterized by almost cinematografic cut of details, the use of perspectives on the edge of comics, and the use of uniform and firm color . Her work makes one perceive a vision and a need for ‘simplicity’ “and that is the first principle of her research.
