Biography
Jessica Russo Scherr’s exploration of the self and the other creates a hybrid of the personal and the universal through her artworks. The handling of her chosen media is often applied in overlapping and mirrored layers forming atmospheric portraits and landscapes that intentionally evoke sensations of memory recollection and internal evolution. She uses tiny images and splashes of color from magazines to form her palette. Her subjects are frequently depicted in solitary, social and spiritual situations.
Jessica Russo Scherr is an internationally exhibiting artist and IB Visual Art/ Theory of Knowledge Teacher. In 2007 she was the recipient of a the prestigious Fulbright Grant by the U.S. State Department for her work in art. Some of her recent shows have been her solo exhibition, "Layers" at The Creative Collective, "Segnali d'Amore" at Tepidarium del Roster, "Dignity Through Art" at the Museo dell'Opera Del Duomo, in Florence, Italy. She currently resides in Germany.
