Biography
Maria Lynch was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, in 1981, where she lives and works.
Maria is graduated from MA and Post-Graduate Diploma at Chelsea College of Art and Design, London in 2008.
Among her main exhibitions, ‘The Jerwood Drawing Prize’, travelling exhibit across London and other cities of England, 2008. ‘Nova Arte Nova’, at CCBB Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, 2008. Solo exhibition ‘Devirneando’, at Galeria Mercedes Viegas, 2009. At the same year Maria was an artist invited to the ‘Salão Paranaense’, in Curitiba 2009, also presented the ‘Incorporáveis’ performance at Oi Futuro and SESC 24 Horas, Pier Mauá, Rio de Janeiro. In 2010, was invited to the group exhibition ‘] entre [‘, at Galeria IBEU and was contemplated with the Marcantônio Vilaça Funarte, Prize 2009. In the same year Maria was invited for the Performance Presente Futuro Vol III exhibition at Oi Futuro, RJ. In 2011 was artist invited for the 6º Bienal de Curitiba, Vento Sul. In 2012 was artist invited for the solo show ‘Ocupação Macia’ at Paço Imperial Museum, Rio de Janeiro, and to show the performance ‘Incorporáveis’ at Museum of Modern Art, Rio de Janeiro. The artist was also invited for the residencie at Bordallo Pinheiro, Portugal and to exhibit at the London Olimpics, 2012 at Barbican. This year is also showing a solo exhibition at Marilia Razuk galeria, São Paulo.
