Biography
I have always loved creating and became a graphic designer in the early ’80s so I could create for a living.
I have always loved texture… As a designer I loved texture and clients over the years gave me freedom to add texture and dimension to their projects.
But my real dream has always been to become a professional artist. I painted years ago but had put away my painting materials while pursuing other ventures. I have always thought I would paint again one day…
In January (2012) I attended a conference on social media – web etc. etc. and I finally asked myself – what am I doing here? The world has enough graphic designers… It was time to go back to my first love – art!
I had forgotten how much I loved to create art for art’s sake.
For the last few years I have thought it would be great to add texture and dimension to conventional art. This led to some painting workshops early this year. In these workshops I was able to flex my skills and get back to painting. I also took an eight week painting class in abstract collage. While I didn’t really follow the other students – I was always doing my own thing – I was able to experiment and develop my own methods for adding texture. I think I have something. I hope you think so too.
