Biography

My primary medium is sculpture, although I also produce drawings and collages. The work focuses on taking on familiar objects and symbols from the everyday environment and reworking them so as to create a sense of the uncanny. I often make installations from a number of smaller sculptures that mimic the layout of a domestic environment. The works themselves, discuss the distance between the object and the viewer in the history of art, by communicating their artificiality visually. This is done through making the underlying structures and layers an integral part of the sculpture. There is a candid playfulness in stressing the materiality of the work that is communicated by evidence of directness with which it is made. This results in exaggerated surfaces and edges.

I relocated to London study MA Sculpture at the Royal College of Art and have continued to be based in London since graduating in 2011. I have exhibited widely both internationally and throughout the UK. In 2008, I was appointed as a Steering Committee Member at Outpost Gallery in Norwich. In 2009, I was awarded a bursary for my participation in the Enquire Artist Museum and Gallery Educator Training Programme. Recently, I have worked as a Visiting Lecturer at Cardiff School of Art & Design, University of Brighton, and Camberwell College of Art.
