Biography

My practice is process and research led and my work takes the form of drawing, collage, painting, performance, video, sculpture, and installation.
I am interested in the relation between the unconscious and conscious in artistic expression. I have experimented with different methods to enable 'accidents' and make use of these. I deliberately combine chance with the controlled, stains and the accidentally found with conscious decision making and editing. Later works have been concerned with communication and traces of action.
I aim to transfer and compare historical findings, within art history, history of ideas and psychoanalysis to artistic expression. There is always a gap between my research and my studio practice. However, the way I relate to materials, the found, the re-contextulized, stains, dirt, objects with traces of history, and the accidental is significant as it reflects my interests in a physical way.
