Biography
Ottavio Taranto, Class '88, was born in Palermo in a family professionally devoted to art. Teenager attended
art school D.Almeyda of Palermo where he had the good fortune to meet teachers that follow his inspiration
and helps him to build a custom
style that recognized the importance of design and construction elements with signs determined. In 2011 he
had his first personal exhibition at the Verdura's theater in Palermo entitled "Stato d’animo fisico" where are presented, along with some oil on canvas, drawings scribbled almost instinctively representing the human
figure through the sketched in inner movements. In the same year he was selected to participate in the
D’Annunzio's prize held at the Aurum in Pescara, where he won the critics' award for the particular stylistic
feature and exposes two collections between Rome and Palermo.
At the beginning of 2012 made his second personal exhibition entitled "LaByrinths", which highlights the fundamental characteristic of his
paintings, is to use the ballpoint pen.
In March 2012 one of the most representative pieces was exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Monreale's monument located in the
twelfth century's tower: La Fornace.
The April 2012 he sees the creator and organizer of the exhibition of painting, sculpture, drawing and photography “The concept of the
grotesque”.
Takes part in "Palermo European Capital of Culture 2019" has joined the initiative organized and curated by Ninni Spanò, articulated in a
traveling exhibition in value's hotels and shops in the historical center of Palermo, exhibiting his works in November 2012 at the Cristal Palace
Hotel, in December 2012 at the Artemisia Palace Hotel, in January 2013 at the Grand Hotel Et Des Palmes, in February 2013 at the Mercure Hotel
and in March 2013 at the Politeama Palace Hotel.
