Biography
Natalie’s practice is concerned with the space between which can be described as the movable intersection between object and sculpture and the inherent relationships between objects and the formal interplays between objects in space.
This direction has resulted in a focus on the domestic interior and utilising the familiarity of everyday objects. These objects are reworked, and reconfigured with the intention of creating a mix of the familiar and the ambiguous.
Memory is a particularly active communication in these pieces with the idea of twisting and subverting conventions of interior space by using every day furniture and fittings as a point of departure. The newly created pieces can be seen as creating a certain type of unstableness, of not fitting, of being neither artwork, furniture, prop nor décor. This blurring of art and life continues by also linking the interiors of museums and galleries with ordinary spaces, such as the home
