Biography
Maria Serra in Wild Art
Born in Turin and graduated in the Artistic Lyceum of Lecce.
In '86 he moved to Rome to continue his studies.
He attended the Higher Institute of Photography, specializing in reportage and scene photography. He works in this field for 11 years. At the same time he takes care of the images for several photographers of the capital destined for the Sicof exhibition in Milan. For the same reason he is entrusted with advertising campaigns such as: Il Banco di Roma, "Il cavallo nel mondo della Pubblicità", an exhibition conceived by Luciano Pavarotti in Bologna.
In 2000 he obtained another specialization at the ENGIM in Rome, in graphics and photomontage, obtaining the certificate as a multimedia technician.
His commitment became constant from 2010 almost by chance ... visiting an Artistic site with the aim of contacting artists and proposing Art Galleries in 3D graphics and Video Art.
Selvaggia opens a page with the Digital Art section, publishing graphics works that he had there on his computer. He finds an immediate consensus from other artists who will soon become his colleagues.
Thus began a journey with digital art to return today to its ancient language ... painting. He participates in several collective awards and receives prizes from both popular juries and technical juries in various competitions in Italy. She is involved in a "Worning Planet" project in Uruguay for the Pedagogical Museum where there is one of her works "The Child and the Scarecrow," the work will become permanent in the Museum. In 2012 Selvaggia made his first solo show in Pomezia (Rome), in the Hesperia Gallery with the theme: "Year 2012 from the Maja to Nostradamus ... to the present day".
The artist, pretestingly, takes into consideration the countless catastrophic and apocalyptic hypotheses that crowd the most varied media, or popular or religious cultures. The artist translates and re-elaborates the "prophecies" in signs and technological colors. For the cultural value and the clear reference to environmental issues the event gets the patronage of the Department of Culture and the Department of Environmental Protection of the City of Pomezia. Selvaggia's exhibition starts from Pomezia to become surprisingly itinerant. She is invited to exhibit at the Fiorillo Arte Riviera of Chiaja in Naples, from the Association "Le Tre Ghinee" to finally arrive at the MAMEC Museum in Cerreto Laziale..In 2014 she returns to her ancient love painting, From 2012 she is committed to exhibit in Galleries and Museums with social themes and for the protection of the environment.
Selvaggia declares: "Today for me, Art is not only technical virtuosity but a form of communication, an instrument of protest and provocation to induce people to reflect on this particular period of our existence, thus feeling like a narrator of my time and of the time that will come.
