Biography

Elleni Sclavenitis is an artist whose practice operates at the intersection of art and documentary. Her work traces the hidden maps of history’s aftermath, uncovering the artifacts of absence in cultural geographies. She explores how the past continues to reverberate in our collective narratives by using memory and experience to reframe the historical. Through this method of subjective archaeology, observation becomes reconsideration, its intent: to reveal the mutability of meaning.

Elleni received her MFA from the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) and her BFA from Art Center College of Design. Before that, she studied anthropology, archeology and French at Vassar College and the University of Colorado. She lives and works in Los Angeles.
