Biography
A passion for American and European history fuels Liza Brenner’s art, especially epic periods of great determination and autocratic power. Throughout Brenner’s “Series Noir,” dynamic historical figures are set adrift against the dark backdrop of contemporary society, creating a powerful commentary on the predicaments of modern life. Brenner creates her works in oil paints and mixed media on board, using rough brushstrokes to accent elements of collage and give her art a purposefully childlike quality.
Born in southwestern New York, Brenner now lives in Buckhannon, West Virginia and teaches at Glenville State College.
