Biography
Mariano Gigli (Rome, 1975) is a hyper-realism artist. After completing his studies in the field of visual communication, he is now engaged in graphics, photography and painting.
Award-winner for a graphic design/photo project conferred by Maestro Ugo Nespolo. He was recently a guest artist in the city of London and at the VI ‘International Biennial Art in Monte Carlo’.
He began to explore portrait painting alone without any academic training. In his work, reality is represented starting with a carefully
selected photographic image. He is captured by the natural spontaneity of the subject, and his expressive energy which, using acrylic paint and incredible attention in reproducing every
miniscule detail, he transfers to the canvas through a long and laborious process.
This self-taught approach to painting makes his style extremely personal, resulting in portraits that appear to be real photographs-made by hand.
